     Tansen Academy of Music, TAAN, The place of a traditional Hindustani Classical Music institution founded in 1999 by Hindustani Classical Vocalist & Shehnai maestro " PADMA SHRI Awardee ", " Kalaimamani ",  " Karnataka Rajyotsava, and Karnataka Kalashri " - 

Pandit Dr. S. BALLESH BHAJANTRI and co-founded by his wife Smt. RATNA BALLESH and sons " Surmani " , " Kalaimamani " Dr. KRISHNA BALLESH BHAJANTRI, Guru Shri. " Surmani " Dr. PRAKASH BALLESH BHAJANTRI " and Guru Shri. " Surmani " Dr. SHIVANAND, BALLESH BHAJANTRI . Tansen Academy of Music promotes Hindustani classical music in India, main branch is located in CHENNAI CITY, Saligramam, and other parts of the City in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, In 2018 and 2019 Guru Dr. S. Ballesh and his sons set up branches in BANGALORE CITY - RT. Nagar and Electronic City, in HYDERABAD CITY - Banjara Hills and in COIMBATORE CITY - Ganapathi Post, The Academy offers a range of part-time and full-time courses in Hindustani Music. Shehnai maestro Pandit Dr. S.Ballesh serves as Head Principal of the Academy and Dr. Krishna Ballesh is the Executive Director.

Chief Patrons of Tansen Academy :

            The Academy is patronized and blessed by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, Ustad Nazim Hussain Bismillah Khan, and Oscar Winner A.R Rahman, who enjoys their blessings. The Ballesh father-son duo runs the "Tansen Academy of Music" and the "BK Shehnai Foundation" with the help of Khan’s sons Ustad Nazim Hussain, Ustad Nayyar Hussain, Ustad Zamin Hussain, and Ustad Ali Abbas Khan. ​

        TAAN, Tansen Academy aims to teach Hindustani Classical Music in “Guru-Shishya–Parampara” where Hindustani Vocal and Instrumental Classes are conducted, and currently, more than 1500 promising classical music aspirants are part of the academy. The academy focus on building a disciplined and dedicated community that helps disciples to learn, understand and sing Hindustani classical music.​

        A brainchild of Pandit Dr. S.Ballesh and his son child prodigy Dr. Krishna Ballesh – both among the few disciples of Guruji Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan - TAAN was founded on the principles of creating a unique niche for Hindustani classical music in South India, strengthening the musical legacy of Ustad Bismillah Khan and to cultivate an appreciation and understanding of Hindustani classical music among students, connoisseurs and laymen alike. ​

With its foundation staunchly laid on the traditional ‘Guru-Shishya Parampara’ of learning, the academy spread across more than 20 centers in the city offers classes in Shehnai and Hindustani Classical Vocal in the Kirana, Gwalior, Benaras, Patiala, and Rampur Sahaswana gharanas.​
